The Psalms Project - Volume 1 - New CD Release

The Psalms CD Project

A contemporary journey through the vivid landscape of Psalms, told in the musical language of feature films. We are drawn into a world of joy and praise, danger and abandonment, and, finally, restoration and affirmation.

Orchestral parts are performed by the COOL Orchestra (Chamber Orchestra of London) in Abbey Road Studio 2, London. Orchestration and conducting is by Alastair King, orchestrator and conductor on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and other major feature films. Singers and instrumental soloists have been recorded in Bath, England.

The Psalms Project - Volume 1 is now available. Discs can be bought via this site for £12.00 (including postage and packaging) by clicking 'Add to Cart', or £10.00 from the cafe at St Michael's Church, Broad St, Bath, or Bath Abbey's book shop.

Two concerts of the work were held at St Michael's Church, on the 27th and 28th November 2009. Both events were a great success: 450-500 people came along, and around 150 CDs were sold. All profits from The Psalms Project - Volume 1 are donated to charities supported by St Michael's.

Responses to The Psalms Project

The Psalms Project - Live at St Michael's Bath

'I want to commend ‘The Psalms Project’, composed by Steven Faux. In twelve contemporary pieces of music it takes you on an extraordinary journey through some of the first forty Psalms. As I listened to the opening performance in St. Michael’s Bath, I found myself deeply moved. Just for a little while I realised that I had stepped aside and paid attention once again to the mystery and miracle of God. I had been refreshed and renewed!’
- Rt Revd Peter Maurice, Bishop of Taunton

'Steven Faux's musical mix of style and genre is most imaginative. What an uplifting experience!'
- Jane Jones, national network radio presenter
